Mo Ganji’s single line evokes the Galápagos pink land iguana — a large terrestrial lizard distinguished by its pale pink skin and dark banding — through an act of careful reduction. The continuous line offers only a restrained indication of presence, enough to suggest a living form while remaining open to other readings. Conolophus marthae is listed as Critically Endangered (CR) on the IUCN Red List. Endemic to a single volcanic slope on Isabela Island in the Galápagos, the species was formally described only in 2009. Its known population is extremely small and geographically confined, occupying a harsh, high-elevation environment shaped by volcanic activity.

The primary threats include its very limited range, potential volcanic eruptions, introduced predators, and competition with invasive species. Low genetic diversity and restricted habitat leave little buffer against environmental change or stochastic events.
